Inspiration can come from many places, but usually the best ones are those which are subtle enough to recognise the designer’s aesthetic but prominent enough, so you can tell what is the story behind. This time the inspiration came to Australia born Kym Ellery, creative director and founder of Ellery from the past when she learned about her European ancestry.
This distant connection made her to create a closet full of the best pieces that might have been worn by the many women who contributed to her being here, back in Paris as a designer of an exciting, successful and growing brand of the present.
The clothes – as per usual – are voluminous, innovative and nicely cut with a corset like coat, chain accessories and buttery or shiny leather pieces. The colours are simple yet beautiful with all the warm shades and some contrasting black. And again, as usual, the cherry on the top is provided by the little details and a pair of rather unusual square toe western sock booties.
What do you think of it?
