It’s been a while since I did a big red carpet evening round up (last one’s here), but if it’s so amazingly loud as the Golden Globes were few days ago and the stars make such a statement, one just has to take notice.
(Almost) everybody (no matter age, race or gender) attended in full black and/or wear a Time’s Up pin to raise their voice against Hollywood’s gender inequality, and it’s wonderful to see how these ‘role models’ can join forces when it’s needed and when (almost) the whole world tends to listen.
One might say the whole thing seemed to funeral and grief like due to these sea of black, but I, for one, respectfully disagree, although I have to admit my favourite looks were the ones with a pop of colour, like a red lip or emerald earrings, or with something standout, like an interesting piece or some simple, yet eye-catching embellishment.
Claire Foy wore a beautifully cut tuxedo like pantsuit by Stella McCartney with those aforementioned red lips which make the whole outfit. Btw this is off-topic, but I love the Crown mostly because of her so I hope she’ll get more and more standout role to play.
Dakota Johnson in Gucci. It’s not often, we see such an understated yet beautiful gown by Alessandro Michele, but here we are. Adore the belt and the shimmering train.
Kerry Washington in Prabal Gurung dress and Roger Vivier shoes. Full black but far from funeral. Also, the shoes here deserve to be named, how great are they?
Alexis Bledel in Oscar de la Renta. The other theme of the Golden Globes’ toilets were asymmetry and this outfit is a great example. Love everything about it and how it makes Alexis’s eyes pop even more.
Isabelle Huppert in a custom Chloé dress. Beautiful gown with exaggerated shoulders with red lips and green accented earrings. Just beautiful.
Saoirse Ronan in Versace is the best example that not everybody looks best in gold and I’m so happy she makes such a wonderful case for silver sparkle. She really looks flawless head to toe.
Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent. And finally one cannot picture a simpler dress like this, but Zoe totally pulls it off. Again the makeup and jewellery are exquisite and make her even more mesmerizing.
Who is your favourite?
