Gucci’s eccentric maximalism is not for everyone. It’s not for me for example. It’s fan to watch and some of the accessories and shoes are truly amazing, but I, for one, just couldn’t wear it and not just because it’s way out of my budget. And yet, Gucci has started something with all its stupendously retro details; the end of extreme minimalism.
I never had a problem with that though. Actually, I really praised all of the Scandi cool clean lines and either black or white, maybe a bit of grey colours. It was careless and easy, but because of these, a bit boring too. Not wonder we (and by we I mean all of us, mere mortals, celebs and designers alike) got on the new fancier and more excited bandwagon which leaded here, to this very writing, this post about Ellery.
I cannot emphasise enough the importance of balance everywhere in life and Kym Ellery feels this balance very well. Her collections are always simple yet interesting, feminine yet a bit masculine, pure basics with an extra twist (or two), and there is nothing I dig more when it comes to designs and styles. Who wouldn’t like to have a simple tailored coat with beautiful mismatching buttons or a piece of statement gold earring(s) or pin? I’m up to both of them for sure.
I love that coat on the featured photo, it’s everything I’d like to wear right now, drool…
