Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Nicolas Ghesquière’s right hand at Louis Vuitton, and before that, Balenciaga has grown up to have her very first and very own fashion show at Chloé. This is/was a big day indeed because her predecessor, Clare Waight Keller created so iconic things like the Drew or the Faye bags, not to mention the most bohemian boho chic dresses which fashionistas went crazy for.
I’ve – on the other hand – never been a big fan of Chloé, probably because my personal aesthetic is so far away from bohemian chic like the Kingdom of Far Far Away, no matter how many times would somebody ask whether I’am there yet, I am definitely not, probably never will either. Anyway, this change meant an exciting one for me, after all, I really liked Nicolas Ghesquière’s work for Balanciaga (too).
I didn’t disappoint. The change is very real indeed, although we have a lot of dark floral, almost boho dress left, these looks are really got toughen up with leather work, like biker jackets or/and lace up boots and made it so interesting with folkloric motifs that they become consumable even for me, and that’s big news. It will be very interesting to see where she’s going to lead the brand, but the first signs are very promising for sure.
How do you like this new turn?
