It doesn’t happen very often I like a more than outstanding design, if you know what I mean. There are those collections which are more like art than clothes, which is admirable on a lots of levels, but not on the ‘what should I wear today problem‘ realm.
One designer who comes to my mind is Alexander McQueen, he was the master of the over the top without being ridiculous. Another example is John Galliano, but since that unfortunate happening he has been not the same. And then there is Alessandro Michele (Gucci) and Demna Gvasalia (Balenciaga), but they represent something else in my eye, hence their approach to fashion is more simple, like (re)creating clothes with their own individual signature.
That’s not an issue though. It’s more like; fashion’s not what it used to be, you know, when we were constantly pondering about its purpose or how we supposed to wear those amazing, yet crazy designs at all. But now, looking at this very collection from Glenn Martens by Y/Project, I feel something similar.
These clothes are crazy, no question here, and yet, there is something in them which make them desirable. The amount of fascinating details, the combination of the beautiful colours and fabrics, the insane deconstructed designs or all of these? I let you decide. 🙂
One thing is sure though; tan/mustard/marigold/camel (all the warm yellowish-brownish colours basically) suede and corduroy are everything I need right now!
