Now that I can really feel autumn coming something has switched in me and finally completely felt ready to buy heavier clothes. It’s September after all, which means a new season, fresh and proper fall offerings in stores without the sale craze, (spring/summer) fashion month with lots of street style photos from New York, London, Milan and Paris, and it is so exciting! EXCITING I say!
One of the best perks of our new home is the lift with a full length mirror, and although we have one too, it’s not the best because we don’t wear shoes inside. Also, IKEA is out of stock at the moment, so lift mirror is the best solution until we get one.
Topshop
Have I mentioned the big Topshop’s basement at Oxford Circus is one of my favourite places to browse? Seriously, even though it’s not cheap, you can find everything there from carefully selected vintage stuff, through smaller brands too cool for school shoes. This is – for example – a vintage bag, suspiciously Hermés look-a-like with canvas/leather, nice, and practical shape/size. Again, it’s not that cheap for second hand (around £90 I think), but it’s cool and unique. I was tempted to buy it, but have to be carful with my budget with our home buying and all.
I’m also really tempted to buy a new black leather jacket (with a belt!) next to my trusty old one. This one is not bad, but £200 and quite small on my shoulders and back. I have to look around.
Booties time! This white one looked so nice on the Office Shoes site (for around £85), but I don’t like it on. Is it only me, or it really makes my foot bigger than it is?
These leopard ones are much better, they’re made of suede instead of pony(?) hair, which is a big thumbs up, but I’m a bit afraid they are way too loud, especially now I’m having more and more printed stuff in my wardrobe. Print clashing is fine by me, but only on a moderated level, so still not sure about these ones.
Next to the fitting room and what I wore; Reclaimed Vintage bandana, Uniqlo tee, Topshop cami, Re/Done jeans, Adidas shoes and rattan bag from eBay. These trainers are so comfy and cool and I seriously think I’m gonna wear this bag all year around.
Ok, this thing is not really autumn-y but I’ve been eyeing with it quite some time, so it was time to try on. It’s a bit late to buy it now, but otherwise, probably this is the best summer loungewear/PJ, very lightweight, soft comfy and retro cool at the very same time.
You know I love a good wrap dress, polka dots, and everything green so it wasn’t really question to try on, but eventually didn’t buy, because I’m not sure this green is my kind of green (too cool), whether I keep wearing dresses in the colder season and because my bloody budget (it’s around £45 btw), duh.
Didn’t buy anything but on my way out my eye met this scarf. I freaking love this colour and think it’s good for my complexion too, but I don’t need a heavy scarf like this, so I’ll try to locate something lighter and fabric wise less artificially with this same exact (ok, similar) colour. Wish me luck!
MangoStill lightweight but more season appropriate dress from Mango, again for around £40. The style is great, the checks are trendy and classy, but meh, I think something has broken in me, probably because of the not so nice sales assistant at the fitting room or my way too high expectations, who knows.
More negative experience with Mango staff, which I’ve never experienced so far, but everything has a start, I guess. Lady, if I want to buy sunglasses from the new season (and not the one which everyone tries on therefore full dirt), then handle me one from the cabinet behind you, otherwise I don’t buy a thing there, thanks. Long story short, she didn’t so I didn’t, their loss, end of story.
H&M
Finally, I went to H&M as well with no hope to buy anything though. But then something happened, which very very rarely happens. I found a pair of black slim fit jeans for – drumroll please – , £20. Can you believe that? The fit is perfect, not skintight, but slim enough, the wash is black, but not jet black, the rise is high and flattering, the length is cropped. They’re a bit chemical smelly though so my first thing will be to wash them, but nothing unsolvable and what I have to do anyway.
And ok, ok you caught me, I lied, I bought the leo boots, but I returned them already (to order something else online and now my budget is happy again), so they still don’t count. Is it only me who try new shoes with new garments in the fitting room? 🙂
So, what do you think of the new season?
