As we are moving ahead, this new Gucci gets further off my personal taste. So why am I including it? It’s mainly because I love this new idea, Alessandro Michele has, keeping up with his very own personal style, the alpha and omega of maximalism if you will. The clothes are new, everything else is old, and Gucci girls love and keep buying it, so why not?
On the other hand, some of the pieces are beautiful, not to wear (not on me at least, especially not styled like these), but to see on others. And to inspire others, to make these ideas a bit softer, edgier, more minimal, whatever floats your boat. There is thousands of small details here from the pearl accented everything, through paisley prints, to the well known Gucci Zoo and Botanical Garden. Not to mention the new slogans, like Guccy, Guccification and Guccify Yourself which will – no doubt -, sell out like hot cakes.
I tried to pick the simpler looks from the collection, without sacrificing the true Gucci aesthetic, even though i’m not sure it’s possible to begin with. Anyway, who couldn’t picture herself in green stain gowns, airy fuchsia dresses or leather or check suits, especially if the label reads Gucci? Style these whatever you want with and you’re extra luxurious both physically and mentally. And this is the exact reason to that why.
On a side note: I know the show was presented in Florence in an extra nice venue, but the lightning really lets the whole collection down, and I would’t mind to lose the harp from the background too, even though I’m sure it sounded magical.
What do you think about it? Love or loathe?
