Resort collections are flowing nicely but quite slowly. If you don’t keep an eye on you will miss it in a second, which is pretty annoying, cos lets face it fashion houses keep trying with sending whole collections down the runway. This time Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino, who btw does a pretty good job since having departed with now Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri.
I keep my eye on Dior as well, and have to say, so far I like Piccioli’s work more, even though I’ve never been (and probably will be) a Valentino girl. It’s hard to say why is that exactly, but if I had to, I’d say it feels more effortless. While it has some exiting thing going on, it manages to be very Valentino as well.
It’s a nice combo of simple felinity, sporty elements, some too cool for school 50s rockabilly vibes and of course the inevitable fairy dresses. There’s no denying these dresses are beautiful, but what got me most, those are the elements of the 50s, especially this white sport socks with sandals thing, which Gucci and Kendall Jenner made so freaking cool on Cannes‘s red carpet too. I’m not saying I’m gonna wear it, but not saying the opposite either. 🙂
