If you thought Demna is out of ideas, think again! First he came with the off-the-shoulder jackets and blazers, now we have tipsy buttons, a total asymmetric way to style your outwear. This one is a bit more difficult to implement than slipping your jacket off your shoulders though. On the other hand, these coats were designed this way, therefore – in theory – they can be worn without feeling uncomfortable.
I tried out the original trend months ago. That was the last time too. I gave up the idea pretty fast, it was too cold to expose shoulders and looking effortlessly massy actually wants a lots of effort when the design refuse to act like the desired inspiration source, which was carefully designed or/and styled before the catwalk and had to last for only a few minutes. Anyway, it wasn’t the first in the history in fashion and not even the last attempt, we’ll see what happens with tipsy buttoning in the real world, but until now just lets wondering and desiring it, shall we?
Ok, making another note, I think this is the most wearable collection that we’ve ever seen from Mr Gvasalia, while he stayed totally true to himself. All of the looks seem feminine and grown-up without being over the top. The only weird/creative/amazing/crazy (insert whatever you feel) things were the still somewhat raw colours, the somewhere oversized tailoring and the before mentioned styling of the coats, which is just enough to admire him and dig this collection hard. J’adore!
He was an excellent choice for Balenciaga, want almost everything, do you?
