Oh where do I start? It was truly an old dream of mine to get a Balenciaga City bag, but the price tag always prevented me. Until now. And I couldn’t believe it yet.
Look at this beauty!
Once I dedicated a whole post to designer bags and whether they worth the splurge, and my conclusion was if I don’t have enough will to save up for it then no, because it means I don’t want it that much. But this time with my husband’s help, and with that almost monthly savings I finally was able to buy this beauty.
From Vestiaire CollectiveVestiaire Collective, pre-loved, but in great condition and with half of the original price! I won’t lie, I had a big luck with it, first because it went on sale. The pre-loved Balenciaga classics are around 700-800 quid if the condition is pretty good and the colour and the features are more neutral.
Of course most of people want the classic City in black and with long tassels and small studs, so those are usually the most expensive. But actually I consider this one neutral enough. It has a dark bit bluish grey colour and beautiful silver studs. It’s almost new, really, there is no obvious signs of wear. The leather is amazing, it’s thick but buttery soft. And it’s light and functional, oh it’s so functional. Has the size, the pockets, the straps, so everything I need in a bag.
Of course I had to wear it right away and it’s sooooo gooood!
I only can speak with superlatives, and it’s mostly because this is a dream came true, as I wanted this bag for almost a decade, and which means it’s not an impulsive buy. I didn’t buy it because everybody has it, but because it’s a classic which I love, I always loved and probably always will.
Mushu approved… 🙂
So if you ask me again whether a designer bag is worth the price, I would say when you can get the one from your dreams with a nice price tag, then yes, it’s definitely worth it. In my case, a pre-loved but great Balenciaga Classic City especially worth the price.
PS: Now I get when women speaking about passing their precious bags to their daughters… Ahhhh… what a nice Valentine’s Day present!
