Raf Simons has arrived to Calvin Klein and his first a show couldn’t be better with minimal lines, lots of colours and some political message.
“It reflects the environment, all these different people with different styles and dress codes, it’s the future, the past… the city… the American West… It’s the coming together of different characters and different individuals, just like America itself,” said Simons and the message is crystal clear at the times when social divide is growing day by day.
This collection is a mix indeed, there is some ’80s vibe and elegance with the broad shoulders and pencil skirts, some sexiness trough showing off some skin by cutouts or sheer fabrics, plastic wrapped printed clothing for some funk, and some cowboy boots, because hey, this is America after all.
I love the statement sleeves, the pencil skirts and the playfulness of the low key and vivid colours, everything seems perfectly balanced, yet exciting and fresh. It seems Simons was a good choice for Calvin Klein. Definitely wanna see more.
