Have you met the new colour of the year? According to Pantone it’s Greenery which – not making a big fuss about, because why would we, right? – is green. It’s nature’s fresh and zesty yellow-green shade if you will, but still, it’s the most simple green if you know what I mean. Those kind of colour which children able to recognise first as it’s part of their colouring pencil kit.
Anyhow, that’s totally fine, it’s just, I feel this name a bit fancy, even though it’s nothing compared to the colours of 2016; Serenity and Rose Quartz. Do you remember? If not here you are:
Right, the colours of a fancy fabric conditioner, both of them light, feminine and refined pastels. Not the exact colours of a kid’s pencil case, right?
And now again, the Greenery:
Of course, if the photo is this nice, the whole thing is full different. 🙂 It immediately brings back the memories of a beautiful warm summer day, which on the other hand is pretty far at this point in the beginning of January, so bah…
But then again, green is a good colour to wear or to have around us. It’s the colour of spring, nature, life, health and hope (and by the way envy too). The colour which can calm our nerves down (no wonder that hospitals and surgeries usually have green walls). The complimentary colour of red, which represents love, anger and danger.
I also love the idea behind this decision: ‘Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.‘ – Leatrice Eiseman.
It’s a nice thought, isn’t it? But I always loved green anyway, it’s really my colour beside red. I always go for the green toothbrush or cup or anything if there’s a choice. It’s also great with the shades of yellow, gold, pink, rose-gold, purple, blue and all the neutrals of course. Not so good with reds (it’s a clear Christmas alert) or oranges for me, but there’s still enough options out there.
On the other hand though, did I mention the combination of redheads and greens? Because OMG! redheads (and btw every Spring and Autumn complexion too, but especially redheads) with green dresses for the win! So gorgeous! Sometimes I wish I had fiery red hair!
And if you’re not so into this kind of green? Then opt for something pink or purple or red. I have a feeling these colours will be big too. Not to mention the forever classic neutrals… Or just another kind of shade of green, like me. I’m so much more into a bit darker or tealish kind of greens, those are the best when it comes to dressing. Swoon…
Are you into Greenery or any kind of greens?
