If it wouldn’t be clear so far check, tartan and houndstooth prints have a big moment right now. Yeah, I’ll give you that, checks are kinda classic every winter, what’s the news here – even though it’s not new at all -, that’s the sharp tailoring. Not just some fluffy jacket or a lumberjack shirt, no, if you want to be really, I mean really trendy, you’ll opt for something which British people would wear proudly themselves. Tweeds.
Sherlock Holmes, the forever classic and ethalon when it comes to checks
And me to living here in London, I think it’s a nice thing to do. But it’s not just that. I could easily opt for any other trend or no trend at all this season, but I love this one the most. It’s so classic, cosy and grown-up that it has the instant potential to dress it down, what’s my bread and butter all the time.
Just imagine one of these blazers or coats with patent or simple leather pants or a pair of vintage jeans, or one of the trousers with a sweatshirt and heels. These are the best combos for every day, but also any of these things could easily go with an office wardrobe too. Not to mention the upcoming Christmas season.
These are my favourites here, all of them from the affordable price range:
The coats are around £100, blazers around £70, trousers around £30 and scarves are around £20, and it’s totally up to you which one to opt for. I believe this one could be a worthy investment, as I said before, check print was a forever classic in winter time. Not to mention sharp tailoring, which is a forever and ever (and ever) classic.
Are you as sold as me? For me the time has arrived (as I’ve been longing for something for a while now, duh, but it’s not so easy to find the perfect ones) when I desperately wanna buy a check coat. Or blazer or pants or something from above, so I’m gonna check H&M, Mango, Topshop and Zara stores soon. I’ll let you know when I succeed.
