Few days ago when everybody seemed to be crazy about the Black Friday madness, I jumped on the bandwagon too and ordered this jacket and few more stuff from ASOS. They arrived yesterday and I have to say it was a pretty good deal overall, but lets see everything in order.
River Island Studio padded bomber jacket
I wanted to buy a padded jacket since last winter, but so far I couldn’t find The One. I tried more here and there but all of them seemed way to short and bulky on me, which of course isn’t a big problem when it comes to puffa jackets, but still they were just stupid on my rather petite frame. So I figured that I
need want a warmer bomber jacket in my life, preferably with a hoodie.
When I saw this one on ASOS, I knew I had to try it, so I went to Oxford Street (I was afraid it would be too thin in winter), but couldn’t find it yet. Then I saw the 20% discount from everything and I pulled the trigger (this one cost £72 on sale, which is a pretty good price for a nice winter jacket). The delivery and return are free anyways, so I had nothing to loose.
When I opened the package my fears went away in a moment. It’s not thin at all, it’s really soft and more on the heavy side actually. The colours are really nice and cool, both of the burgundy outer fabric and the orange lining. The quality was great too, no thread stands out, all of the zippers run smoothly, and they have a really cool and trendy circular metal piece in the end. When I put it on I liked it even more.
I ordered size Small as usually I’m between/either XS and/or S in tops, but prefer to go for size Small in outerwear as it gives just enough wiggle room to have layers underneath (and XS wasn’t an option anyway). It’s great, a bit oversized, but not ridiculously oversized. I’d prefer the sleeves to be a bit longer though, but it’s just my preference, it’s fine otherwise.
And what a luck, winter weather really has arrived to London, it’s below freezing point at nights, so I could wear it already. Moreover it was so nice to wear, it’s really warm, I wasn’t cold at all. It’s one of the best buys this season. Ok, I say this a lot, but it’s really practical, and if you don’t mind the weight, it’s a good and trendy option to tackle the cold.
A little bit of sneak peek how I wore it the very first time.
ASOS premium velvet camisole
On the other hand, I ordered this cami based only on curiosity. I mean I liked it on the picture and I’ve been checking velvet camisoles in stores for a while now, but it seems to much to pay £30 for them, doesn’t it? Or it’s just me?
It’s called premium, but I don’t really understand why. It’s full polyester and a lot of elastane, which I knew of course, but still. The fabric is not too bad, but it’s not that good either, it’s just too much, too ‘in your face’ for me. Plus it’s too stretchy, which isn’t really good for it and rather unnecessary. Eventually I returned this one, I think it’s not worth the reduced price either. At least for me.
Not bad, not bad, but not that good either, so it went back.
New Look velvet bralette
However, this little bralette yey, it’s really good. This was another curious, long wanted and cheap order for around £15, and actually I was pretty convinced I was going to send it back. But guess what, I didn’t. I love everything in it from the not so in your face velvet to the zipper detail.
I won’t lie, the first time it was a bit of a struggle to put it on with all the bells and whistles, I mean tags, labels and those hanging thingamabobs, plus because it’s quite small (it’s size 8) in every sense, but on the second time it become easier probaly because it streched out a bit.
Worth to note, that this one has some elastane in it too, but it’s totally justyfied, as it’s pretty thight. With a bigger cup size it’s worth to consider to size up probably. Anyway, I cut every unnecessary things out, and now it’s fine to put it on. The zipper works fine too and gives that extra touch to it which I needed from the cami.
I’m looking forward to wear it over my simple tees, shirts and thin knits. It’s so exiting, isn’t it? My hubby liked it too, which is a rare thing.
So that’s it, it was a really good round. I sent 1 thing back out of the 4, which is good I think. Oh yes, if you’re wondering what’s the 4th thing, it’s fishnet tights, which I won’t show you this time, but I hope you’ll see them soon enough. That’s the plan anyway.
What do you think? Would you have kept the cami as well?
