Few months later Phoebe Philo presented her Resort 2017 collection. Finally. Don’t get me wrong, I get the concept behind the delay, which is about giving less chance and time to fast fashion to copy the whole collection, but on the other hand, it doesn’t matter how much I want to buy the real deal, if I’m not able to pay its price. And if I was, I would buy it anyway. It’s Celine after all, which – hands down – could be worth the investment, especially if we consider the mastermind what she’s blessed with.
Because she’s clearly blessed. No matter what she touches – minimalism, comfy loose clothing, fugly shoes – it will turn into gold eventually. I think it’s because she belongs to that rare kind, who knows exactly how to balance between manreppelingly ugly, shockingly different, yet feminine, comfy, and infinitely interesting asthetics, which strong woman tend to love.
The case couldn’t be more similar here. The whole collection is based on neutral colours, sharp tayloring, feminine dresses and those fantastically fugly shoes (those over the knee boots are to die for, but unreachably expensive I guess, so meh). I still love the main, more trendy S/S collection more, but there’s no denying that this collection is a totally different story, giving everything which undoubtedly defines Celine, which makes it an even better investment for the years to come. And that’s quite admirable too.
What do you think? Trendy RTW or classy Resort?
