This season is all about balancing between maximalism and minimalism, creating our own individual, quirky, unique, but also trend following style. Textures, like velvet, corduroy, tweed, denim and vinyl, patterns like plaid, strong vivid colours, like red, purple and green (besides the autumn neutrals of course), and all the frivolous details like ruffles, frills, sequins and laces. And luckily for us these things not necessarily exclude each other.
It maybe be an oxymoron, but this is the time, when fashion houses don’t dictate the trends anymore, but offering a bunch of them which we can choose from. And that’s totally personal whether you gravitate toward anything with everything maximalism, a la Gucci, represent a careful but still curious person, dipping your toe in one or two of them, or totally ignore every one of them, living by the classics above all motto.
I’m somewhere in the middle. I love classics, but I also get bored quite soon, so like to experiment with certain trends. This time particularly with everything by Demna Gvasalia, as you know by now. Weird vivid colours, classic tartans, reconstructed denim and sharp small accessories and details, I’m up to all of them. My latest buys all have a little bit of twist, and now I’m crazy about specific colours, namely purple, green and red. Ok, the last to can’t come as a surprise, these are my all time favourite colours, even though I didn’t used to wear them. Purple is another topic though, I purely blame that one on Demna and I’m not quite sure how long it will last. But I don’t mind it at all.
What I want recently the most is that little green suede handbag by Zara and the red suede boots by Topshop (that purple velvet is gorgeous too). I know they don’t go together really well, ok, not at all, red and green as complementer colours, give too much vivid contrast, and they’re way too Christmassy together. But on the other hand, when to buy and experiment with these things if not in Christmas season? When, I ask you? Just imagine of of them with a simple white tee or jumper and jeans or with a black vinyl skirt. Heaven! 🙂
So little ladylike green bag and/or red suede booties? What do you think?
