Last time I missed Simon Miller’s collection, but this time I won’t make the same mistake. And I didn’t disappoint. However, this collection is raw, boyish and casual, I like it a lot. I mean I like it mostly due its rawness and casualness.
Few months ago I read an article from Leandra ‘Manrepeller’ Medine’s
pen notebook, that she doesn’t get Vetements, because it’s way too casual. She understands and therefore prefers the shows which can make you forget the towering laundry at home, to be anybody else by the power of fashion. To make you awe. Actually she has a point (as per usual), we could never not wear tracksuits or vintage jeans or platform boots. I mean, if we wanted to. Also I very much agree on the conclusion, that we definitely don’t need an overpriced and hyped brand name to wear these things to justify our needs. So far so good.
But on the other hand, when I think of Ready-To-Wear, I think f*cking RTW. What I AM ready to wear. And not just on fashion shows, or on the red carpet, or work, or insert what you wish. A girl, who mostly wears tees and jeans, even though loves and appreciates fashion in every form, won’t wear crazy sequinned/metallic/crazycut/unwearable/ladylike or-again-insert-whatever-your-not clothes because that’s fashion. Maybe the above mentioned girl does and that’s right, moreover, it’s inspiring, but I can’t, and quite frankly, I won’t.
That being said, I need the designers like Demna Gvasalia or in this case Simon Miller, to gain some tomboyish, more casual, raw inspiration as well. Or in an even better and full wallet case, to have the opportunity to buy these things. Because this is fashion too. Maybe not everyone’s fancy fashion, but then again, nobody has to love everything. That’s the best part of fashion!
Anyway, to speak a little bit about this very collection, I have to mention how much I adore these colors and color combinations. And the bags! That green bag indeed! Maybe there’s never ending space inside of it, where nobody is able to find anything, but it’s beautiful for sure. I still like hoodies and jeans too!
Do you have any more questions about platform shoes? No, me neither.
