So yesterday I went back to Oxford Street to return the nude backless loafers (you can read here why) and to check out everything else in the shoe departments. This time I had a exact list in my head. A goodie list with summer shoes, which I could be looking for. But fear not, I tried some other ones too. 🙂 Lot of pictures and shoes are coming!
When it comes to shoes, the number one try must be Topshop. This time also because I wanted to get rid of my online purchase as soon as it was possible. If you’re interested, there was no problem with it, they took them back without a question. Though the ‘instant refund’ usually takes 2 days (and of course you need the card which you payed before with). Now I know, and so do you.
I tried these mules first, and I know they’re black, but I was curios and trying something on doesn’t cost a thing. But at least you can see now why I have problems with mules. They don’t look good on me, and I don’t like them so much that I could forgive it. Or maybe it’s just my pet peeve, but if I don’t like something, then I don’t like it. There’s nothing to do about it. Probably that bow didn’t help either. 🙂
Because these full whites are a bit better. Or maybe just the fact that they’re white and it’s better with my pale skin color. By the way, I tried this color because I couldn’t find my size in the other ones. My biggest problem was that it’s way too tight, and I tried a bigger size. Maybe they would stretch a bit in time, but honestly I don’t wan’t to pay almost 60 quid to learn that. It’s still a mule anyway.
Some sandals. Again, I tried the black because the red wasn’t available at all, and the there was no size on the tables in yellow. Actually I liked these sandals. They seemed comfortable as well, but they weren’t nude, so I thought I came back later if there had been nothing else better (hint: I never did).
Mostly because I found this, and it’s perfect. Chanel like sling back in nude with black toecap. I love the nude hue which happens to match pretty good with my skin color, but there’s still a little black, so it won’t get dirty at the first wear. The heels could have been higher with an inch or so though, but I don’t mind as it’s still classic ladylike, but not too much for my taste. My normal size is fine too and have similar price tag to the refund ( around £50). The perfect score, and the day (and summer) was saved. 🙂
But as curios and perfectionist as I am, I had to take a look around. You know, just in case. Even so because Office Shoes is in TopShop’s basement. How clever is that.
I found this off-white/pale nude babouches in Office Shoes. They’re pretty similar to my Zara ones, except the price (these cost around 60) due to the fact, they’re made of full leather. But at least these are available, even in black.
The second temptation of the day. Nude ballerinas with black tie ups. I love this (my inner, deeply hidden ballerina loves almost anything with tie ups), but I have some fears how dirty it would be after some wears. Also the color is nice against my skin, a nice leg lengthening factor, which gets lost immediately with the black ties (See? Deeply hidden). The full black ones are not so tempting as these. 🙂 Anyway, they’re still in my head, because I think they would look great with something shorter. So a next purchase to be?
Next stop was H&M as I had some more things to check out from that above mentioned list. In the name of curiosity of course.
The nude sandals. They could’ve been nice, but I guess the 5 straps are just too much for me. Again, maybe with something shorter they would be okay. It was really comfy though.
The espadrilles. Unfortunately (or fortunately? how knows at this point?) the tie ups weren’t available in my size. Unfortunately because it was tie ups!, nice, comfortable and the £24 price tag wasn’t bad at all, but fortunately because, come on, how many pair shoes does a girl need? Don’t answer to that, please.
And the glittery one? Well, it’s very-very glittery and sadly it’s made of some plastic, but otherwise it was comfortable. If you want something trendy, girly and comfortable for summer, for £7 it’s not a bad deal, is it?
Finally I took a quick look in Mango too (and no Zara this time, because what for?).
The first thing what got my eye was this Chanel like sling backs. And the question which might be in your head right now is would have been worth more to buy these ones? Or something similar, so lets see the differences and similarities.
The similarities are pretty obvious I think. These are nude Chanel like sling backs with toecap too. But these ones have nude higher heels (a bit too high for me, I know nothing is good enough…), rounder and shiny nude colored toe caps, a sturdier fabric and a cheaper price (around £35). For me the Topshop ones are better due to the black, lower heels, leather material (I’m not sure what are these made of, but weren’t too comfy) and the black toecaps, but nevertheless, these are nice too.
And finally, some sale pick. You didn’t see this coming, he? Well, me neither. Actually I saw these ones countless times on the website and in the store, but never thought about them as a potential purchase. But now, I just had to try them on. And you know what?
They are super fine. Not leather, I give you that, but it doesn’t really matter, because what could ventilate better than a pair of slides? The retro vibe, the multi colors and the knots are nice touches too and they also have a low heel. Something got me, and when I saw the price tag, it wasn’t really a question anymore. They were reduced from £20 to 8, and still available in my size. I already wore them yesterday, and I’m so happy.
So finally my urge for summer shoes got contented. Both of the shoes are comfortable (well, as far as I can tell) and look a bit more polished. They will be the perfect additions to my jeans, denim skirts and shorts. Cannot wait to wear them (again)! 🙂
What do you think? Was it a good decision?
Ps: This is not the end, I bought some other things as well, so check back later to see what are those. 🙂
