I haven’t been shopping for a while and I missed it so much. I know, I know, it may sound pathetic, but hear me out. It was missing not necessarily because of the shopping part, but going to the Oxford Street, breathing the City’s atmosphere and checking out the sales and new things too. And ok, a little bit shopping too. 🙂
I arrived at opening time and basically nobody was in there. OMG, this is the best, and next time I won’t do anything different.
These are the mannequins on the -1st floor, in front of the escalators, so basically right in your face at arriving, and summarize quite well what TopShop thinks about current trends. Off-the-shoulder top, bandanna, everything denim, sneakers and mules. Btw, I liked that on trend deconstructed denim jacket on the mannequin, but it was huge on me.
Next stop: SHOES! It’s shouldn’t be news to anyone (who has been following me for a while), that I’m crazy about shoes (and jeans) and what I think about TopShop’s shoe department. It’s one of the bests! Good quality, trend following, comfort and reasonable prices, what else do a girl need? What else indeed?
Summery ankle boots. Well, this is a non existent term in Hungary and I never understood how bloggers can wear boots in summer, but since we moved here, everything has changed. 🙂 I don’t buy boots this time of the year though, but the ones on the left hand side are not bad, moreover I’ve got a cool Isabel Marant feel from them.
But these! I love these, and if I hadn’t had similar ones, probably they would be mine already. These are called ARSON boots and they’re not new design at all. I remember years ago when we still was living in Hungary, I ordered a blue velvet pair online. Too bad that they were too big, and I couldn’t keep them. 🙁 Right now black patent on black leather, white, pink and black leather on dark grey velvet combos are available, and I love the black on black ones.
These leather slides, which I tried on before, are marked down to £30 and almost all the sizes are available which probably means nothing good. Actually the leather already started to peel off and there’re no good reviews on the site either. 🙁 Disappointing…
On the other hand, these loafer slides (yeah, new name on the list and probably it keeps growing :P) are so good. So gooood! So fu.king good and so Gucci wanna be, that I couldn’t resist to buy the canvas ones with floral print. The nude wasn’t bad either, moreover they could make the legs longer, but I was all over the other ones. Love at first sight! Without thinking a bit.
Now lets see the clothes. I have to confess, that I’m so bad at sales. I never find anything. I just don’t have the patience anymore, even though I do a fast overview once in a while. On the other hand however, I figured out, that if I love something (and can justify the price too!), I’m gonna buy it anyway. And I don’t buy something just because it’s on sale. Plus basics usually resist to go on sale, and who could blame stores for it?
Speaking of basics. I’m trying to find non black or white pieces which can go well with blue jeans, and this nude (what TS calls it :)) hoodie fits the bill perfectly. I adore hoodies anyway, they’re great match with my practical self and can be worn all year along.
On the other side, these skinny jeans were totally unplanned. It seems, the best season for me to buy black skinnies is summer, as I bought a few of them last summer as well. This is the style called Baxter and not so skintight as the Jamies, but have thicker, more real denim like material (99% cotton!) and lower waist. I love the faded black color and the perfect length. Actually I was thinking a bit about buying skinnies in Mango (on sale) for example, but usually those are way too long for me and I wanted these ones with proper hems. Sold! 🙂
As I mentioned UO is really good at reworked vintage garments, so these are the first to look every time I visit the store.
This mannequin on the right was my favorite from all. I wish oversized Levi’s jeans fit me like these to ‘her’. On the table there’s a big pile of denim minis along with vintage tees and accessories which is the best to look trough.
I found a lot of vintage denim skirts, most of them with size S, so I tried the smallest ones on. Well, if you want to buy vintage item from here, I’d definitely suggest to try everything in person. Most of the skirts with size Small were too big, which wasn’t a surprise, but the only one XS was big as well. And what you see on the pictures is an S again. It was the smallest what I managed to find and I checked a lot. I was hesitating about this a bit, but it could’ve been smaller along with the price (£40!), so eventually I didn’t buy it.
By now my obsession reduced to a habit to visit Zara, I guess. Just look at the photo on the right hand side. It’s was so busy, so messy, so overpacked. It’s not a good experience to buy anything there, nor standing in the sneaking lines for the fitting room and till. 🙁
What I liked tough, is this leather slipper with bow detail and this faded leather jacket for £99 which is not bad at all, but it can’t be compared to my Mango one, which I love to the moon and back. 🙂 And I missed the zippers from the sleeves too. So I bought nothing as per usual.
Mango is far better than Zara in my eyes these days. The price is similar, but the quality is much better. Not that you cannot find shitty things, because you could, but the ratio seems better. Also the store was neither too busy nor messy which indicates for me that the hype is bigger around Zara than it should. I don’t mind it though. 🙂
So first things first, I found this yet again perfect parka, this time with longer length, more yellowish green color and floral woven print. As you know, I was struggling to find a decent trench, but I haven’t succeeded. They were overwhelmingly big, way too expensive and had ugly color and no hoodie (yeah, I know, why I wanted a trench then, but still). But this one is so good from every aspect and the cherry on top was the price 50% off! Plus they go insanely well with those TS backless loafers! Sometimes I got lucky I guess. 🙂 It was no question really, because this color goes well with all of my blue and black denim.
Most of the camis are on sale as well, and this price fares better, as we’re speaking about a rather small, usually synthetic fabric here. I like the fit and the lace details on the right photo, but not the floral print, so eventually I left it in the store.
Arriving to the new things. This basic black dress had to come home with me. Although I prefer pants over skirts and dresses anytime, this one just got me with it’s more closed neckline, tight, but not too tight fit, nice length and short slits on the sides. It was also available in white with black horizontal stripes which is a good deal too.
Do you remember those Balenciaga shopping totes by Demna Gvasalia aka the pimped version of the cheap woven market tote? I think the inspiration is pretty clear, but at least this one has a far better price next to the nice quality. Actually I had seen this bag online, and thought that I would like them more, but in person it didn’t convince me. Maybe because I’m not in autumn mood yet. 🙂
I didn’t have enough time and energy left for H&M, so I just ran through quickly, and tried this one pair of barely there heels which were so nice. I swear, if I could walk in these and use them regularly, I would’ve bought them. They would go with anything giving the illusion of long legs. Ahh, nice but really useless thoughts…
It had been a quite long tour and I was so tired after it, but this tiredness is the best. It was an efficient day and I was charging with inspirations and found some really nice goodies as well. And sometimes it’s all what we need, don’t we? 😉
