A few days ago I wrote a post about a pair of nice TopShop jeans which I bonded high hopes, but eventually returned (check out them here). As you might guess, I didn’t get sad, but ordered an other pair, this time a River Island one from Zalando.
Actually I’ve had my eyes on them for a while, but they had been sold out in River Island and it hadn’t come to my mind to check them elsewhere, until the other day, when I stumbled upon them. Furthermore, they were on sale, which is always nice, not to mention the original price which was lower than the TopShop ones. So I didn’t think twice.
In love with all of the details
I love, love, love the details, especially the back pockets and the uneven, frayed hems. They also have the panel detail in the front but there is no color difference between the two sides. And they have button fly similar to the TS ones, but this time with proper holes, so this time I didn’t have to struggle with the buttons.
Well, maybe that’s just me but I totally lost on British sizes. At one brand the UK6 is equal to EU34 (which is my usual size), while at the other ones UK4 is EU34, which I don’t get at al,l and I hadn’t have anything from the brand which I could compare to. Anyway, this time I didn’t have to think about it too much, because UK6 wasn’t available at all. I ordered UK8, at least it’ll be a bit baggy or there’s still the option to send them back.
No weird button situation here 🙂
When I got them, I saw immediately on the label, that at RI the UK8 is equal to EU34 which was a good start. On the model they looked a bit baggy but rather fitted. On me, they are more baggy and not fitted at all. It’s because they have a pretty big waistline, which I can push down to my hips, making them more like a belly showing piece, LOL. 🙂 On the other hand, they’re just right on my bums, the smaller size probably would’ve been too small. But actually I don’t mind it, moreover, I prefer this more baggy fit as the legs are a bit tapered and my Levi’s jeans are really fitted (how I like them to be) :).
The legs and the length:
As I said, the legs are slightly tapered, they look really good, but they’re a bit longer than what I expected. Again, on the model, they’re quite above the ankle bone (more like a 3/4 length), which is almost too short to my personal liking, but I knew (as I’m not a model, and don’t have their height either :)), that they would be longer on me. But they’re a bit long and that’s because the pretty big waistline. If I put on a belt, this will be no problem though, and they’re fine this way too, as I don’t have to show off my ankles all the time, right? 🙂
The hems are a bit shorter on the front, which saved the day and me to return them. 🙂
Pros and cons:
There’re no cons really. And it’s rare, but happens. The price was nice, the fabric is made from 100% cotton, the details are on point and I like this looser fit on me. Although the length could be a tad shorter, I’m really fine with it. So there’s no complain here. And also, it’s totally irrelevant, but these are my very first piece of clothing by River Island. 🙂
Probably this pocket is my favorite detail. 🙂
I won’t increase the length of this post, I’m gonna keep them obviously. Moreover, I can recommend to anyone, who would like to have something similar to those Vetements jeans bit with a way more reasonable price. 🙂 If you are interested, they’re still available here and here too. Go, go until it’s not too late. I cannot wait to wear them!
Have a fabulous weekend!
