So, if you’ve been following me for a while it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m crazy about jeans. Especially special jeans. Especially in this special period of special jeans. Ok, I’ve finished it. But my point is, if I see something good with a reasonable price I had to try them at least. And so I did when I saw these ones from TopShop.
They’re the part of the Straight family, so I did know what I was facing, however, these ones had no elasticity in them at all which made the ordering process a tad more complicated. I had no idea whether I needed my usual size or had to go one size up. Finally I didn’t risk anything as I knew, small sizes will be sold fast. I ended up ordering both of them.
They look nice laying flat
The size:
I won’t bore you with the details, my normal size, which were completely fine with the ones with elasticity were too small. The bigger size was just fine. And don’t believe the buttons! 🙂 I couldn’t button them because the holes were so small, that my fingers got hurt when I tried to force them in, without any success. Anyway, the bigger size was still a bit tight, but I’m pretty sure it would break in time. So if you like these, I’d suggest to go a size up.
I could force every second buttons to go in place due to the way to small holes. It’s quite annoying but fixable at least. 🙂
The legs and the length:
The legs are quite tight/skinny as usual. I couldn’t tell you that they’re straight fit, if I wouldn’t know better, but it’s true that they’re not skinny tight. They’re somewhere in the middle. I ordered the ones with L30 length and you can see how they fit. It’s a bit shorter than what I prefer, but good enough. At least the frayed hems would stay intact. 🙂
TopShop jeans with TopShop backless loafers. Neither the fit, nor the length are bad, but I hated the middle seams on me. 🙁
Pros and cons:
I loved both of the colors and the panel detail, I also liked the button fly, but I didn’t like the frayed seams in the middle of the legs. I think they’re unnecessary, and made the jeans bit too busy for my liking.
Conclusion:
Although I loved the colors and I could make the size and length my friends, I didn’t like the frayed seams and the fit either. Maybe I should’ve gone 2 sizes up, but how would those look on me? Finally I sent both of them back. One pair costs £45, and I think for this money I should love them unconditionally. But I didn’t, I couldn’t, so it’s better this way.
But hey, there are more for you! If you are interested, they’re still available here.
Are you? 🙂

Those jeans are so cool! Such a neat find!
