Having written my inspiration/admiration post about American Cowboys and European Cowgirls, I just knew I had to create my own outfit post for you to understand it better.
I love the creative process what’s taking place in my mind when I find something oh, so challenging like this idea. Challenging, because I’m not American, moreover I’ve never been there (thus far, but it’s on the bucket list for sure) and because somewhere, I would like you to love it too. On the other hand it wasn’t so difficult because as I have plenty of perfect and proper clothes and accessories to work with. Ready?
Here you have my first attempt of being something like an American cowboy or cowgirl but with an European flare.
This time (well, most of the time) I started with the shoes, with these true western style suede booties which have all the unique features like the pointy toes and middle blocked heels. As I said it could’ve made the whole look by itself but this time I wanted to go a bit further on that concrete prairie.
Here, on these pictures you can see my boots a bit better. See? What are they if not the perfect start to build an outfit?
My second choice was (as usually again) the pants. But as I’m not too tall, I prefer wearing these boots with darker, skinnier pants and my leather pants came just handy. They’re very me, not too much but still cowboyish enough.
Having chosen the pants I came to pick out the top and the outerwear. Actually the outerwear first, because
that’s alway easier I knew, I didn’t want to wear leather pants with leather jacket, after all, this outfit wasn’t meant to be an easy rider one. However, a denim jacket is perfect in every way. It gives some color, different material and again, denim is good enough to have a cowboyish outfit.
And the top? The Star Wars, meant-to-be-a-pyjama-top, tee? Well, it’s pretty difficult to say the reasons but let me put it this way: perfect complementing colors and American sci-fi fairy tale. I could have chosen a plain black or white tee too but somehow I feel this one gives more impact if you know what I mean. Do you? 🙂
Finally the secondary accessories, like an inevitable belt which could’ve been a wider one, but these pants have pretty tight loops and maybe it would have been too much. For the bag I choose my beloved and loyal mini tote which is a bit like an opened saddle bag with the perfect details like studs and whipstitches.
I have to admit, if I would have more non black accessories this look could have been even more cowboy and less rock, but I insisted to use everything from my wardrobe and not buying new pieces. Ok, the jacket is quite new, er, vintage, but I ordered before the whole idea, so it’s perfectly valid.
Anyway, it was important to me, because my wardrobe evolved with me and mostly have the pieces which I truly adore. And also it was the clearest and simplest way to prove my point about western inspired pieces which have become the classic and edgy but mostly American parts of my European style.
Denim jacket – vintage, tee – TopShop, leather pants – H&M, belt – ASOS, boots – Office Shoes, mini tote – Zara, sunnies – RayBan
What do you think? Did I own it?
Have a fantastic weekend and lots of goals by your team! 🙂
