There are endless stories about French women’s effortlessly chic style but as I’ve never been is France (yeah, I know, but soon, very soon) I cannot tell whether this is true or not. However, if we take Jeanne Damas (or Jane Birkin or Emanuelle Alt) as a benchmark I’ll believe it immediately as she is the epitome of chic itself.
I’m not sure it’s her hair (her bangs!), the red lips, or the attitude makes the whole story around her but I know that usually she wears normal clothes and accessories (those vintage jeans and espadrilles and suede boots) like the rest of us but we cannot look like her. So how does she (and the French woman) do it?
Never having read an interview with her I suspect she’s above every trends and she follows big French ancestors’ steps, wearing what the hell she wants and feels good in. And who could blame her? Actually nobody, we should follow her steps too.
Seriously she makes me want to chop my bangs shorter and buy some espadrilles for summer. Maybe I will.
