Mornings. Waking up, bathroom, tea and dressing up. What should I wear today? Looking out the window and checking the weather app. Ok, this is England so there is not too much diversity temperature wise but it might be raining or not.
There are tips about you should prepare your clothes the previous night but I won’t even try this. Ok, sometimes if I have to wake up annoyingly early I do, but on a usual day there’s no chance. I have to know what mood I woke up with and of course I have to see the weather with my own eyes.
Is it raining or raining today? 😛
Having checked those, usually I know instantly what I want to wear that day. Well, shoe and bottom wise. What I will wear on top, that’s a though question. While I have a lot of jeans which I love love love and apparently cannot get bored with and it’s easy to buy new ones too, I have problems purchasing and picking out tops from my own wardrobe.
Different but similar tops and jeans but jeans don’t bother me. Ever.
Nobody can tell I’m not trying because I am. Sometimes I just buy something to compensate my newest pants (here you have, I said it) but eventually I end up returning it (like here). And next time I know I should buy a top but I won’t or I will but just because I feel this… push.
But why? Why do I have trouble with it while I love getting dressed?
- Is it difficult to buy a top? No, absolutely not, actually it should be easier than buying pants as they are more tricky because of the fit and sizing. While with tops I know if I buy a size XS/S (UK6/8) depending on the brand and fit then probably it’ll be fine.
- Is it the fact that I shouldn’t be too cold or hot? Yes, we pay way too much attention to this in Hungary. You couldn’t see a child (or adult) without some proper layers there. And true that there’s not too much variety with pants, you either wear long ones or not, maybe skirts (which I don’t :)) while you can wear tanks, t-shirts, shirts, blouses, jumpers, cardigans, sweaters, blazers or more of these at the same time. And I haven’t mentioned outerwear which is a completely different story but part of an outfit anyway.
- Is the reason what I learned when I was a child? Namely that general rule is I have to change my tops every day but not necessarily my pants as I can get away with one pair of jeans for an entire week. Well in my own experience it isn’t entirely true. While it’s completely valid with men, as a woman you should wear something totally different every day. Or am I the only one who does feel this push? I do change my clothes every day but I wouldn’t say I dress so differently. I have my uniforms what I prefer and just sometimes changing it.
Quite nice 25 piece capsule collection with 10 tops (+1 jacket) and 7 bottoms.
Probably the problem is with me and society together. And there’s not too much solution to solve this problem as you either care and accept the way it is or not. And it seems I do care but I couldn’t accept, what’s not good for me.
Because what if I have 10 bottoms and just 2 tops? Will somebody mention it? No, probably not, people either way to busy with their own problems or way too polite to mention it. Of course I won’t give up on balance and I need variety (and heat control, duh) too.
This could be me but with jeans instead of stockings and more organized wardrobe. 🙂
But I’ll always be a tee and jeans type of girl no matter what and I won’t force myself into clothes which I don’t feel to myself. And if that means that I’ll have more bottoms and tops which by the way won’t fit social expectations then so be it. I’m a rebel from my hart, careful rebel though.
Do you have similar problems or it’s just me?
