I have a thing for corsets since I saw Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman in the movie Batman Returns. To be quite frank I was amazed by the whole role, costume and acting as well and I think Michelle Pfeiffer is the ultimate best Catwoman ever. And although I quite like Tim Burton’s dark, gothic and bit weird world, I’m pretty sure Pfeiffer could have been amazing without any of these too.
I love the whole costume with the latex, stitches, rips and the corset.
But back to the topic. We always knew that cinching the waist is advantageous for any women but mostly because of skinny jeans’ reign, looser tops were more trendy. And of course nowadays it’s not so easy to pull a corset off especially if we don’t want to look like Ms Tackyville. But now corsets and bustiers are back once again and we can wear them if we find the perfect items.
As we could see at fashion week when cold was still here, above some knitwear. And Emma Watson in a proper bustier, denim shorts and riding boots at some festival few years ago.
Taylor Tomasi Hill with a really nice studded bustier and some photoshoot with a ribbon top, white tee and vintage jeans. I love both of stylings.
How to wear it:
- The easiest way to style bustiers are dressing them down. Most perfect items for this are good jeans and flat shoes.
- Other key element could be layers. If you wanna wear something like above the best options are simple t-shirts. These outfits are the best for spring or fall when you’re able to show off the bustier but still can layer a t-shirt or a shirt under it.
- Also you can easily experience with this trend if you wear a nicer cropped top or a negligee above anything really.
Luckily you can find some nice ones at fast fashion brands.
