Last time when I wrote that I don’t really like street style photos from fashion weeks and I started thinking why is that exactly. And I think I figured it out and thought I’m gonna share it.
Of course there are really nice outfits too trends have been moving away from pure minimalism but there is a thing now: fashion weeks are about to
pull out buy the most weird, vivid, colorful and attention seeking outfits. I get it, the competition is big, you have to draw attention to yourself but at this point it’s a bit overwhelming. For me at least. And this is just my opinion.
I remember those days not so long ago when outfit pictures were almost bigger thing (for me again) than runway photos. Or at least I was exited to see everything. Now? As I said I was pretty overwhelmed. I see a photo and think: way too much information for my little brain. What could work on runways not necessarily works in real life. Not even fashion weeks.
I have a good eye for details and nice things and I have some fashion sense too. Overall I’m receptive to new trends. I’m not saying I like every new trend but I have my favorites and I admit if something is nice, even it’s not for me (remember what I said about Gucci or JW Anderson?). So if I say there’s too much going nowadays, I mean it.
Don’t get me wrong. No judging here. I don’t know what happens there exactly, although I read a lot of comments and experience about it, saw a lot of photos so I might have a clue.
Maybe in that rushing, overwhelming environment it feels…right(?). There could be a big push to be trendy and more trendy and even more trendy (what does this say our ever growing selling and consumption, right?). So with all these things in mind I say I really appreciate their work, their enthusiasm, they efforts to dress up, be there, run all day, smile all day long. No question mark here.
Being this said, I’d say lets turn down the volume a notch (or two). I’m pretty happy what fashion world serves for us any weekday. I think those outfits represent true style and true persons behind it. And I’m not saying everyone should do this on fashion weeks, I’m saying a happy middle would be pleasant for everyone. After all, holding back might be good for whoever wants to dress up and we could see the true inspiration again.
On the bright side I found few (for me) good balanced outfit too.
